Look through the current issue of the Crested Butte Magazine and you’ll see a lively article and a few photos by Crested Butte character-about-town Paul Gallaher. A few months ago, when Paul offered to write a story about the Gravity Groms, I was psyched; the rambunctious kids were right up Paul’s literary and photographic alley. Now I’m especially glad we have Paul’s words in the summer issue – since that was the last magazine article of his life.

Lots of people over the years have enjoyed Paul’s quirky sense of humor, musical gifts and eagerness to jump into all things offbeat and artistic – and his death in May caught us all by surprise. We’ll have a chance to celebrate Paul’s life at a memorial service next Tuesday, July 10, 3 p.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Crested Butte. In the mean time, we can tell our favorite Paul stories.
